Building transit in Toronto

Toronto keeps adding people faster than it adds ways to move them, and the roads are already full. You cannot pave your way out of that: one streetcar or subway lane moves far more people per metre of street than a lane of cars. So the city works two tracks at once, and this page follows both. First, the quick wins: handing existing road space to the buses and streetcars already running. Second, the megaprojects: the slow, expensive new rail being dug right now, and the disruption that comes with it.
